Elbow Room was made as part of the Auckland Super 8 x 8 film challenge. Each participant (or team) were given a super 8 camera, one roll of Tri-X 160 Super 8 film and a week to make a film based on the theme ‘Latitude’. The film addressed this theme by focussing on the high contrast urban fabric of Auckland City, while also making reference to Walter Benjamin’s idea of elbow room as a ‘space to live in’.
